March Madness: The Fashion Fiasco
Ah, March. It's the most confusing month of the year! Is it winter? Is it spring? Who knows! Mother Nature is playing a cruel "Guess Who" game with our wardrobe. One day, you're in a winter coat, and the next, you're sweating in a T-shirt while trying to dodge puddles the size of small lakes. Seriously, Mother Nature, pick a season!
Every morning, I wake up with the existential dread of "What do I wear?" It's like a game show with no real prize. It feels like nothing fits right, nothing looks right—like I accidentally stepped into someone else's closet who was going for the "disheveled yet chic" look but ended up "lost in the laundry room."
And let's not even talk about shopping! Who has the budget for new clothes when all my money goes to coffee and wine? So, what's the solution to this fashion fiasco? I've decided to embark on a fabulous journey of closet cleaning. I'm talking about a full-on excavation, finding things I thought were lost in the Bermuda Triangle of my wardrobe. Out with the old—like that shirt from 2010 that might still be trendy in some alternate universe—and in with the organized bliss!
But wait, there's more! I'm also pledging to do one nice thing for myself. It could be buying that overpriced coffee that I deserve or treating myself to a manicure. Who doesn't want shiny nails to poke at this month of never-ending gray? Watching a long-overdue series binge is also on the table. Because self-care is not just a luxury; it's practically a requirement for looking presentable.
One of my secret weapons? A little trip to Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Target, or even CVS for a "Girl Shower" (think spa day but in your bathroom!). I stock up on goodies and slather face masks, and pretend I'm in a fancy salon instead of my tiny bathroom. It works wonders! Not only do I feel better, but I also have that radiant glow that says, "I didn't just roll out of bed… I rolled out of a spa!"
You don't realize how connected self-care and fashion are until you see someone who looks fantastic and isn't worried about their appearance. So, let's embrace the madness of marching together! As we wait for spring to arrive finally, let's clean, pamper, and strut through this month like the stylish warriors we are—drenched in product, armed with coffee, and ready to conquer those fashion battles!
Fashion Unplugged: Where Style Meets Humor for Everyone!
First, A Little About Me
I’ve been a teacher for 18 years, which means I’m well-versed in multitasking—helping kids learn, grading papers, and somehow managing to make it through life without spilling coffee on myself (that is a complete lie). But outside of the classroom, fashion is my passion.
I have no academic or working background in the fashion world other than working at Express as a teenager for about three years. However, I have my own experience of knowing what I like; I have learned how to dress my body, and I have a knack for styling clothes and making an outfit come to life.
I’ve learned that fashion is not about fitting into a box; it’s about making what works for YOU work. Whether petite like me or rocking a completely different vibe, your style is YOURS and deserves to shine.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit—I’ve had my fashion fail. I’ve tried amazing outfits online and discovered that I resemble a stuffed sausage. (Don’t even get me started on the time I bought an oversized smock dress thinking I’d look “chic,” but ended up looking like I borrowed my grandmother’s muu muu) But that’s the fun part of fashion, right? You try things out, fail, laugh, and learn. Like the time I thought I could pull off a bold print but ended up feeling like a walking circus. We've all been there, and that's what makes fashion so exciting!
Why I’m Starting this Blog, website, business.
I'm starting this blog to share my passion for fashion and personal style, and to create a space where we can all learn, laugh, and feel fabulous together.Let’s be honest—shopping can feel like a battlefield sometimes. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I aim to help you laugh at the fashion fails, learn from them, and find pieces that make you feel like your best self. This blog is about embracing your style, whether you’re dressing for a work meeting or a Netflix binge (because, let’s face it, we all need a few cozy chic looks).
On this blog, you’ll find:
👗 Honest tips for dressing every body shape—because style isn’t about fitting a mold but finding what makes YOU feel confident.
🛍️ Where to shop (and where never to shop again, unless you want to cry in the fitting room)
🎨 Outfit inspiration for all occasions—from “I’m late, but I still want to look cute” to “I just rolled out of bed, and this is my ‘I woke up like this’ look.”
💡 Real talk about mixing trends with timeless pieces (because who can keep up with all the fast fashion anyway?).
I want to help other women embrace the beauty of their style, share the laughs about our missteps, and create a space where we can all feel fabulous, no matter the size of our closets (or our bank accounts).
